Affiliate and sponsored content disclosure

Draft for review. This text is a starting template, not legal advice. Have it checked by a lawyer for the countries you operate in before publishing.

In short

  • We earn money in three ways: our own products, affiliate links and labelled sponsorships.
  • Every pick shows a stamp that says how we know it.
  • Sponsors never see or approve our text before it goes live.

How Becoming Miles makes money

  • The Miles Store sells guides, presets and paper goods we make ourselves.
  • Affiliate links: if you buy through some links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
  • Sponsorships: a brand pays or invites us. These are always labelled Sponsored.

What the stamps mean

  • UsedPersonally usedWe bought it with our own money and use it on real trips.
  • VisitedPersonally visitedWe went, paid, and would send a friend.
  • ResearchedResearchedWe have not used it yet. We say what we checked and why.
  • SponsoredSponsoredA brand paid or invited us. The notes are still ours.

Our rules for sponsors

  • We label sponsored content on the page and in the video.
  • Sponsors do not see or approve our text before it is published.
  • We only work with things we would use or visit anyway.

Affiliate and sponsored links are marked on the page and use rel="sponsored", so search engines know what they are.

Prices and dates

Prices we show carry the date we last checked them. They may have changed since.
